Multi-Level Security Partition Module (MSPM)

MSPMIt is extremely important to ensure protection of classified information in today’s challenging and technologically advancing mobile environment. This level of protection is necessary for both government information and for CEO’s and their employees who are accountable for protecting critical business information on the go. Government users are in dire need of a way to simultaneously access classified and unclassified information, while corporations are responsible for protecting information while accessing the internet. With Management Sciences, Inc. (MSI), this level of security is possible with only a single mobile device.

In a newly awarded contract, MSI is advancing the prototype Multi-Level Security (MLS) System called the Multi-Level Security Partition Module (MSPM). The MSPM is a software upgrade for mobile devices that enables secure processing of classified and unclassified information in a single device, while providing connectivity to SIPRNet, NIPRNet, and Department of Defense Information Network assets through already existing network connections. This is particularly important for telemedicine specialists, such as Army Medics.

Combat injuries are currently recorded on Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TC3) Cards that are filled out by the Medic and attached to the injured soldier before transport. Often, the TC3 card is torn or ripped off before reaching the Medical Treatment Facility, resulting in the loss of important medical data. Army Telemedicine and Advanced Technologies Research Center (TATRC) is working with MSI to address the problem by developing a software application to prepare and transmit TC3 data and other medical information to the receiving medical treatment facility in a quick and efficient manner. Army Medics can transmit electronic medical records through the unclassified NIPRNet server, however, in a tactical situation, this unclassified information is mixed with classified information, meaning the only available communication network is over the classified SIPRNet which could take hours or even days for the data to be released. This could delay significant medical information that is necessary to saving an injured soldiers’ life. MSI, with partners, General Dynamics Mission Systems and Cog Systems, are developing the MSPM system to provide Medics in the field with efficient tools that are necessary to save lives during combat.

The MSPM system securely tunnels classified or otherwise private data over unclassified networks, and unclassified data over classified networks. This enables a wide range of applications from Government entities (National security), to commercial businesses (confidential meetings), from anywhere in the world using available network connections.

D3 Information RecorderD3
Imagine the value of a multi-media recording/processing system, which replaces several legacy systems and adds features for data- centric communications. Development of the Digital Data Download (D3) was a NAVAIR Phase II SBIR project. A project like the D3 would normally take five years to move through the concept, competition, award, and delivery processes. MSI, with support from a major aerospace manufacturer, delivered a flight-ready unit in just 3 years.

The D3 selectively records and processes several types of media and data according to contextual and situational requirements. The D3 goes far beyond simply recording. A new architecture, which employs advanced artificial intelligence techniques, processes data into information and information into knowledge. On schedule, on event, or on demand, the D3 sends war-fighters up to the minute reports. For the first time, operations crews shall be made aware of the need for fuel, weapons and repairs before an aircraft lands. Unlike stovepipe recorders, the D3 gathers and fuses data from multiple data sources before departure or during a mission.

Addressing the problem of obsolescence often plaguing military and commercial airlines, the D3 is designed as a plug-and-play unit for out-of-date recorders.
